Cornflower
Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is an annual flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe.
It is often grown as a weed in cornfields, hence its name but is now grown as an ornamental plant in gardens.
The edible flower of the cornflower can be used for culinary decoration, for example to add colour to salads. Cornflowers have been used historically for their blue pigment. Cornflowers are often used as an ingredient in some tea blends and herbal teas.
Cornflower attract bees and come in varying pastel colours including pink, purple, white, lavender and dark maroon.
If you are looking to plant them in your garden, they require full sun and need to be watered daily.
